I'm trying to install imagemagick based on someone elses post and I'm getting an error.

Here's what I'm doing (someones post)

    1. mkdir /home/src
    2. cd /home/src
    3. wget http://www.rge.com/pub/multimedia/imagemagick/ImageMagick-5.4.7-4.tar.gz
    4. tar xvzf ImageMagick-5.4.7.tar.gz
    5. cd ImageMagick-5.4.7
    6. ./configure
    7. make
    8. make install
    9. cd PerlMagick
    10. perl Makefile.PL
    11. make
    12. make install

When i get to tar xvzf ImageMagick-5.4.7.tar.gz I get this error

tar (child): ImageMagick-5.4.7.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
    tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

    Any ideas?

    Put a dash before xvzf:
    tar -xvzf ImageMagick-5.4.7.tar.gz

Check your filename. Above, you have two different names for the get and the extract.

lol. Good catch. :) If ImageMagick is the only file there with that type of name you could also just use this line:

    tar -xvzf ImageM*

Then you don't have to type out the whole thing (I'm horrible at typing numbers).

    ImageMagick - Uninstall???

I've tried to install but was unsuccessful. I read in another forum than if it doesn't install correctly the first time you need to uninstall it to make it work again.

Question, I followed the above and it quit after &tar xvzf ImageMagick-5.4.7.tar.gz&

How do I uninstall it so I can try again with the &-xvzf& ?

Thanks for any help. Been trying forever to install on my Plesk Server and never got it done so was hoping I could on this new one with WHM!

    Change steps 4 to:

    4. tar xvzf ImageMagick-5.4.7-4.tar.gz

    and try again.

If you're installing it for the first time, I'd advise going ahead and getting the latest version, as it has some minor fixes that will make life much easier when using it.
