Why doesn't the CPanel error log show the referrer?

A log that tells me that file X was not found but does not tell me what page has the erroneous link is not a lot of help.

(Yes, I can use PuTTY to search for an identifying text string, and thus find the referer, but how many clients have that ability? how many want to add that step?)

Make a better product - include the referer in the error log!

    Am I missing something?

I usually go to AWStats and at the bottom of the navigation on the left click on "Pages not found" - it gives you detailed information on how hits you had to that non-existent page and the referrer for those hits (if any).

    AWStats - good, but still

    Thanks DavidG,
I had forgotten AWStats had that Error log.

That satisfies my needs. For others who don't use AWStats, I still expect it would be good for cPanel to include the referrer in the Error Log.

If that's harder than it sounds, perhaps it would suffice to include a footnote with a link to "Pages referring these errors" that takes them to the AWStats 404 view.

    Thanks,

Feature requests are always welcome at http://bugzilla.cpanel.net - you may want to post this suggestion there so the developers may consider adding it as they do not routinely monitor the forums.
