Error starting MySQL

Hi.

Today morning when I waked up found out all sites are saying "Too many connections.". Restarted the server but I started to get the following error:

Code: 
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
By running "service mysql restart" I get the following error:

Code: 
ERROR! MySQL manager or server PID file could not be found!
I have tried "upcp --force" but didn't fix.

Please help ASAP!
