Hi, I've been getting this error: The service “spamd” appears to be down. Does anyone know how I can find out what causes this error and how to fix it? Googling it refers me to other forum threads which don't have solutions.

Did you try performing cPanel update forcefully ?

Could you let us know if you see any specific output to /var/log/exim_mainlog or /var/log/exim_paniclog at the times of the failures?

After that received e-mail fro server with:

The service “spamd” appears to be down.
Service Check Method The system’s command to check or to restart this service failed.

Restarting was automatically recovered 6 minutes later, but still I will like to know the reason ...

It's possible the service reached a memory usage limitation, or the load on the server was high at the time of the failure. Please let us know if you encounter this issue again, or if it continues to happen.

I've been getting this The service “spamd” appears to be down. error a fair bit lately and have had it happen 3 times today with the spamd service recovering after 12 mins.

The times that the spamd service failed were:

7:34am
8:19am
2:20pm

It seems to take exactly 12 minutes to restore the service each time automatically.

Anyone know why this might be happening?
