    anyone else missing /etc/localdomains

    /etc/localdomains is empty nothing there.

    All emails are bouncing with

550-permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into
550-the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP
550 Authentication turned on in your email client.

2 servers so far out of 10 are missing it. Not sure about the others still checking to see if any more are missing it.

    Problem Fixed

    Greetings,

I found the script which fixes it. Use /scripts/mailperm to rebuild the localdomains file and it will have everything running smoothly again.

    You are welcome

You are welcome. Just a note, it is currently still inflicting across all servers I am managing and frankly, it is starting to get me really upset. It don't seems to have set time but it seems to be at random across all servers. And as far how many, try 289 servers that I manage. :)

I ran /scripts/mailperm and it added 2 of everything (for the most part) to /etc/localdomains.

Should that cause any issues? This is the second time today this has file has been rebuilt. It is only on a server that is activly adding new accounts, so I wonder if that is where the problem lies....

    /scripts/mailperm
is a quick fix until you terminate an account

    For a permenant fix try
    chmod 644 localdomains.rpmsave

    If that doesnt work
    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/upcp
    /scripts/exim4

If it still doesnt work run
    ll /etc | grep local
    and compare it to....
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 May 19 21:53 httpd -> /usr/local/apache/
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26728 Oct 8 15:47 localdomains
    -rw------- 1 root root 26728 Oct 8 15:42 localdomains.eximreset
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 1 1998 localdomains.rpmnew
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26728 Oct 8 15:34 localdomains.rpmsave
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26728 Oct 8 15:47 localdomains.tmp
    -r--r--r-- 1 root root 318134 Oct 8 15:47 localdomains,v
    drwxr-xr-x 34 root root 4096 May 20 00:21 locale/

I Never, ever, ever had this problem until today. Now I had 3 out of 4 servers that are having this problem. Is this something that is going to be fixed? is this on the CPanel fix list? I am having to setup test accounts on all our servers and email them every hour to make sure they are still working...

I'm not even running edge, I'm running release.

:D I was just thinking about that... I only have four servers, and not even 1500 web sites.. I think I read that you have 10 servers... Man, I really feel for you.
I remember when I ran Edge, but now I can't afford problems.. I was thinking about going stable after this, but you just assured me it wouldn't be any different.. in this case.

    I did the /scripts/updatenow and /scripts/mailperm
and it seems to be holding..

We all need to have faith in the cpanel gods, they will come through. ...... ... .. Right?

    x my fingers.

More than that mine plus all the ones I lease and manage for others. So yeah I hope it holds because it is is pain when they all start screaming at once.

I still want to know what changed in a stable release to do this. Email is one of the things people scream the loudest and longest about and it always seems to be one thing or another with exim4 since release 7.

That's so funny!.. You are so right... I very seldom have a complete outage, but when I do, my users know it's life. It will happen, the server will be back, and we'll live another day. But.. When they think everythings fine, but hours later realize they're not getting their email. ... It's a little different story.
The problem with this error is that the servers are bouncing the mail back - with an odd error. So, people trying to email myself and my clients, you, etc. think we are no longer around or died, or out of business, or something. One of my customers thought we blocked him from emailing us because he is always asking for help. :) Not a bad idea, but..
Usually when a server goes down .. for real.. The mail will keep retrying.. and you get a big load of mail when the server goes up.

That's why this is so serious to me. I'm not trying to over complain. I wouldn't want to do this job without cpanel.. but, this is a very serious problem.

I don't know what changed on this last built. Whatever it is, I know it affected release/stable. But I wonder if it hurt edge users.?

Just wondering – is that a permanent fix or is it just until someone terminates an account again?
