Im trying to work out how to restore some files from cpbackup to /etc

    I get the following
    Code:
    root@host [/restore/cpbackup/daily]# gzip -d files/_etc_exim.conf.gz

gzip: files/_etc_exim.conf.gz: not in gzip format

The files in dirs/ extract fine....

Is there any automated way to restore all these settings files, or do they have to be done manually ???

    Hello :)

Please run the following commands on your system:
    Code:
    # cd /restore/cpbackup/daily/files
    # ls -al
Check to see if "_etc_exim.conf.gz" exists, or if it's already extracted as "_etc_exim.conf". The reason I mention this is because these files are already extracted in the "files" directory on a test server.

    Thank you.

not extracted... .gz does exist... .conf is not there

    Code:
    root@host1 [/restore/cpbackup/daily/files]# ls -al
