I want to automatically create cpmove files (cron job). I want to keep always one complete backup (just in case something goes terribly wrong during the backup process), but the new one should not include that one. So I have to exclude the existing cpmove file (home/mydomain/backups/cpmove-mydomain.tar.gz) from the new backup. How can I do that?

Hello,

Regarding the previous response, that is the correct method of excluding files from backups. However, keep the following points in mind:

  • If you initiate a Home Directory backup in cPanel's Backup interface(Home >> Files >> Backup), the global and local exclude files do not affect the contents of the backup file.
  • If you perform a backup with the /scripts/pkgacct script, the global and exclude files do not affect the contents of the backup file.
  • The global and local exclude files apply to the account backups that you manage in WHM's Backup section (Home >> Backup) and the Download or Generate a Full Website Backup feature in cPanel's Backup interface (Home >> Files >> Backup).
Thank you.
