I've upgraded a large number of server to v4.44 and not seen any problems at all. Have you check your exim log files to see what it is doing, the load could be legitimate?

Umm strange, when i do a ps -aux and the load is high around 20 i see a lot of:

    root 12692 0.0 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110
    root 12693 0.0 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110
    root 12694 0.0 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110
    root 12695 0.2 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110
    mailnull 12696 1.6 0.3 7604 3588 ? D 11:57 0:00 /usr/sbin/exim -bd -q60m
    root 12698 0.0 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110
    mailnull 12701 0.5 0.2 6832 2500 ? S 11:57 0:00 /usr/sbin/exim -bd -q60m
    root 12702 0.0 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110
    mailnull 12703 0.0 0.1 6708 1736 ? S 11:57 0:00 /usr/sbin/exim -bd -q60m
    root 12704 0.0 0.2 10760 2168 ? S 11:57 0:00 cppop - accepting on port 110

and a lot of AUTHORIZATHION request always from POP

do you think that the cause of the load is Exim or i have a high mysql usage that will slow all the others process like Exim? In fact if i restart apache the load go down

The problem with performance issues is that the initial problem can be masked by the resulting chaos :) A good example is if you have something chewing up your available memory and the server starts page thrashing which can cause many processes to go out of control (i.e. it snowballs).

If stopping httpd/mysql helps, then it's most likely a php/mysql loading issue. You might want to look at things like:

    1. Disable KeepAlives in httpd.conf

    2. Install a MySQL query cache:

    3. More MySQL tuning

AFAIK, you can't. You might want to log your problem with cPanel if you're seeing much higher exim load with a low number of emails going through.

Ok, not funny but on one of my servers (which have the most low load) I have the same problem - lots of exim -q and exim -q20q prosceses are running. It is FC1 and RELEASE 10.0.0-7

    Any advice?

...and have you logged it? cPanel cannot fix things if you don't let them know about it

I don't know what I should log  because logs don't show anything strange, everything seems to be working. I reinstalled exim, clamav and other software (i.e. apache) and today the server runs for 5 hours without any problems, but rush hours in my country will be after next 4-5 hours, so I'm sitting and watching what's going on. The only thing I saw before load went into 100-130 it was lots of cppop and exim procesess running. Also tons of mysql procesess. Any idea?

I am having a high load problem which I believe is exim, also.

    WHM 10.0.0 cPanel 10.0.0-E78
    RedHat 7.3 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

I've got Clam AV and BFD installed. SUEXEC turned on. High exim usage causes this problem.

I see "mailnull" quite a lot. It is my impression that EXIM causes a high load because it trys to send spam back to the origin. And when we get a lot of spam in the queue, mailnull loads up the cpu.

What makes you think that Exim is sending spam "back to the origin"?

I believe this is not a Exim error, but a configuration error.
Have you tried restarting a server?

...and is there anything going on in your exim logs files? Have you checked that you're not under a DOS or dictionary attack? Have you upraded exim to v4.50?

It is very possible that you have insecure cgi and/or php script(s) used as a launching pad by spammers.

have you check the memory usage of exim/spamd/clamd? Are you swapping when the load is high? How much memory does your machine have?
