Exim failure on Fedora core 1 install.

    I have just completed a CP install on Fedora Core 1. After the initial setup I noticed that exim was not running. It was showing a 'Failed' service status.

    Running exim manually reveals:

    Starting exim: /usr/sbin/exim: error while loading shared libraries: libdb-4.0.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    This is interesting as the installed libdb is a later version:

    /usr/lib/libdb-4.1.so

    This file is installed by the db4 package:

    #rpm -qf /usr/lib/libdb-4.1.so
    db4-4.1.25-14

    Does anyone have any info on a quick fix for this?

    The problem is that you do not have gcc and some other software installed which is necessary for compiling. I think if you succeed in setting the right /etc/yum.conf file you will have no problems installing cPanel which is working. Another way is to select these packages to be installed when installing Fedora. I have tried it and it is working for me. The most tricky is the /etc/yum.conf file because if it is not properly edited you will not be able to install the necessary soft.
