    Exim has wrong user error

    Ok, just loaded up putty, logged in as normal and im getting :

    Exim configuration file /etc/exim.conf has the wrong owner, group, or mode

    This isnt affecting ssh usage but im curious as to what this means, why its suddenly popped up and how i fix it?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Not sure why it would have changed.. do an 'ls -l /etc/exim.conf` that will tell you what the settings are. It should though be similar to the following;

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31913 Apr 11 21:30 exim.conf

    To get this if different

    chmod 644 /etc/exim.conf
    chown root:root /etc/exim.conf

    Also check for any suspicious processes, logins, etc..
