Exim Mail Server will not start

    Im wondering if anyone can help..

    PROBLEM
    The mail server has not been starting now since 10/12/10 22:25:08

    I'm desperate to get the mail server back up and I have no idea what has caused this, it just started happening and I really hope that this makes more sense to someone out there then it does to me..

    this exact same thing started happening to me as of midnight last night.


    Except....

    /scripts/eximup --force


    Did work for me.

    Can anybody from the CPanel team chime in here?

    I'm afraid this will happen tonight, if I have automatic updates on. I just turned them off and will turn them back on in a few days when the kinks are worked out.

    Exim does not work, before rebooting every 5 minutes, 3 days ago I have the error

    but after the error message about the error Cpanel Exim critical upgrade to version.

    now not working

    Starting exim alt spool: exim: -D is not available in this Exim binary [FAILED]

    To resolve above error simply run following command from shell.

    root@server [~]#/usr/mscpanel/msswitch.pl inout

    :)

    The diagnostic information provided leads me to believe that Exim may have started successfully and that the "failed" message might not be entirely accurate.

    If Exim is still reported as failed forcing a re-install of Exim might help alleviate the problem; this can be done using the following command via root SSH access:

    If the difficulty persists please submit a support request so that we may directly investigate the circumstances involved. When available, please post your support ticket ID number so that we may follow-up internally.

    The Exim update should apply seamlessly under normal conditions. Depending on the unique configurations involved, including any manual customizations, it is possible for a different outcome to be experienced.

    If there is an issue preventing Exim from updating correctly, I recommend trying the following corrective measures one-at-a-time with each step followed by testing to check for resolution:
    1. Via root SSH access, rebuild the Exim configuration, then restart Exim:

      # /scripts/restartsrv_exim
      # /scripts/restartsrv_exim --status
    2. Via root SSH access, force a reinstall of Exim:

      # /scripts/eximup --force
    3. Via root access to WebHost Manager (WHM), reset the Exim configuration:
      WHM: Main >> Service Configuration >> Exim Configuration Editor >> Advanced Editor >> Reset Configuration (Scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Editor page.)

    This started happening to me AGAIN last night.

    force update did not work as it did last time, but the above quoted solution did.

    That would lead me to believe the difficulty stemmed from integration with a third-party plug-in for cPanel & WHM. Are you using a MailScanner plug-in with Exim? If yes, please also check to ensure the latest version is installed, in case the plug-in developer or vendor may have an update available.

    What is your cPanel & WHM version? Do you have any third-party plug-ins installed?
