Exim/pop3

    I have had a bad spell of bruteforce. It seems spammers have targeted my mail server. is there a way to prevent brute force list attacks? such as:

    Oct 5 15:51:45 web pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, user=glen, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]
    Oct 5 15:51:46 web pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, user=goldberg, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]
    Oct 5 15:51:48 web pop3d: LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]
    Oct 5 15:51:49 web pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, user=gold, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]
    Oct 5 15:51:51 web pop3d: LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]
    Oct 5 15:51:51 web pop3d: LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]
    Oct 5 15:51:52 web pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, user=goldberg, ip=[::ffff:203.198.230.120]


    anyhelp in preventing this would be greatly appreciated, considering these people are running the brute force scripts for days on end sometimes.
