Anyone know how to whitelist a host from being checked for ratelimit? This is a great feature, but I have one client using a non-rfc compliant mail server and its causing some woes.

    Thanks!

Here is how to whitelist IP addresses with the new ratelimit feature in exim:

Create a new file: /etc/ip_whitelist that contains the IP addresses of the host(s) that you want to whitelist.

Then in the exim configuation, add this line in the first box:

Then further down, modify the acl_connect and acl_notquit sections to look like this:

I got these instructions from cpanel through my hosting provider, bocacom.net. This worked for me.

    FYI,

We're noticing that authenticated users sending mail on port 587 are getting rate limited.

Is this as designed, or should authenticated users bypass the ratelimit feature? Do I need to ajust the ACL in a similar fashion?

In Exim Configuration there is an Access Lists section. One of them says:

"** Whitelist: Backup Mail Hosts (bypass all smtp ratelimits)"

Can you not just add the domain to this list? Clicking on the 'Edit' link the instruction there says:

"This is a list of hosts (with reverse dns) from which connections should always be allowed regardless of ratelimits."
