    Hi,

Is it possible to change the common name (mail.yourdomain.com) for sending email with exim in something different like for example: smtp or anything else?

This because we don't give out the send mail details but only the one to receive email (mail.yourdomain.com) as we had many relay problems with ISPs.
Recently someone found out by trying when he had problems with his own ISP that using for both receive and send email mail.yourdomain.com was doing the trick.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

You do not need to use mail.domain.com. Just domain.com also works. xx.xx.xx.xx too as well as host.name.com.

If you want to use whatever.domain.com, just edit the DNS record accordingly.

What are you trying to do. Do you want to disable SMTP entirely?

    Hi,

I would like to know how to rename the mail to something else, so a customer can't use this anymore to send mail trough the server and has to use his own isp indeed.

Don't feel much for going through each dns record.

Yes, if possible we might need to stop using smtp, but for moment would like to know this first :)
