I have come to terms with the fact that I cannot use port 25 to send emails from Exim. Google Cloud disallows that from Compute Engine.

So I decided to use a Smarthost, in particular a Google Workspace relay.

I have set this up in Google Workspace, and I believe it can take 24 hours to take effect. The relay is * smtp-relay.gmail.com::587, which I have configured in WHM.

I will revert my port changes to re-include 25, although I am sure this will not have any effect. I do have a question though.

How do I connect WordPress to Exim? I am not sure if this happens out of the box with WP Toolkit? I tried to send an email using Check & Log Email plugin, and it is trying to use 25. This may well be a red herring, but how do I route emails from WordPress to Exim?

Hey there! All system tools will automatically use the local mail handler. I wouldn't expect that you need to do anything special for the email to be handled on the system, whether there is a smarthost or not.

If you get a specific error, let us know and we can help with that!
