I have a valias (forwarder) on my server which is not working. Mail is bouncing because exim is saying "unrouteable mail domain". However, when I do a dig for the MX record for the domain - you can see from the dig results below that the MX record for the remote receiving mail server, attwireless.blackberry.net, are fine. There is no A record for attwireless.blackberry.net - but should that matter -as long as the MX domains have A records?

Basically, I can't why exim would be rejecting this email which it should be forwarding to the remote mail server. Is there something wrong in the exim.conf file?

    Below are:

    1. exim_mainlog Log extract of bounced mail.
    2. Bounced email generated by exim
    3. dig results for attwireless.blackberry.net

    Thanks
    Mark

Turn off the tweak in tweak settings about "tracking origin of email" do an:

    ls -la /etc/exim*

    What's come back?

    rpm -q exim

If it doesn't say at least -60, do :

    /scripts/exim4

    I am using 4.34_0

I turned off "Track the origin of messages sent though the mail server by adding the X-Sender headers (exim 4.34+ required)" and that seems to have fixed it.

Thanks - you legend. Any idea what that is all about?

    cheers
    Mark

On the tweak settings page, it says not to use it with 4.34_0, so you could have either upgraded or turned it off :)

Well it says it requires 4.34+ (a bit ambigous). I am not going to upgrade until I find a new sysadmin - because I need someone to fix up amavis which was installed by my last syadmin and which I have currently disabled.

Whata waste of money for that support, anways, i found out what is wrong when i did:

    exim -bt <domdomain that failed>:

So anyways, i though, well that is not right, so i did the following:

    cd /scripts
    ./newexim

    No go

    so i did:

    ./exim4

There we go, it installed it, now i did the same thing as above:

    That fixed it for me.

Paste the result of exim -bt <domain that does not work> and mabey i can help if it is a different error :)

edit: Nevermind that - just remembered I had chmod wget to 000 for safety reasons :/

    ./newexim:

So since the update to cpanel 9.4.0 C20 exim is fecked.. :/ Any help on this?
