Eximstats is not logging

Hi,

Recently I noticed that my view relayers list was coming up empty. I did some searching and tried a few simple things in a number of threads here, with no success. Finally, I wanted to start fresh and verify some things so I made a backup of my eximstats database, emptied it, restarted exim and eximstats and can verify that nothing is being written to the eximstats db. This appears to have stopped 2 or 3 days ago. I am on release build and keep current.

Any advice?

The latest RELEASE build is 11.11.0-RELEASE_17033, you may want to try upgrading to that first.

Thanks David. I'll try that. BTW... I check http://layer2.cpanel.net/ a couple times a day and it is still showing 11.11.0-R16983

Well, I just tried running /scripts/upcp and it said I am running the latest release 11.11.0-R16983 is it possible that 11.11.0-RELEASE_17033 isn't actually released yet?

Ah, forgot to look across the table, that build is only available for Linux x86-64... it's perhaps in the middle of the process of being released at the moment.

I tried the 17033 build but no go. Funny just one box having this problem with the view relayers list.

I thought so too. I haven't done anything unusual to the server and everything else seems to be OK, just absolutely nothing getting logged to the eximstats db. I'm not sure where to look for a problem.

Has one of the eximstats tables crashed? Try running a check/repair over them. That's happened to us once before.

I appreciate the tip - yes I had tried that already. I had found that tip in an earlier thread when I did some searching here. I just checked again too and the tables report fine, just nothing being logged to them for the last 4-5 days.

I also found the following in a pdf of a cpanel training seminar, but it didn't help either...

– Execute myisamchk -r /var/lib/mysql/eximstats/*.MYI
– mysqladmin drop eximstats && /usr/local/cpanel/bin/updateeximstats

... it did what it's supposed to do, but didn't fix the problem

A couple things -

1) x86-64 11.11.0-R17033 is the same as x86 11.11.0-R16983 with a specific fix for x86-64 PHP Linking

2) I'm not able to replicate this on Release or Current test servers. Would someone mind opening a support ticket (http://tickets.cpanel.net/submit/) ATTN: Kenneth

There is obviously something going on that is not happening in our testing environment. If we can see this problem on a server experiencing it, then we can issue a fix.

I just wanted to wrap this up and take a moment to thank cpanel, Kenneth in particular, for getting this resolved.

The bug was confirmed and a fix will be in a future release. In addition, my copy of eximstats was patched. That was much appreciated.

The bug was triggered by me adding a custom exim config for "log_selector = +all". That was throwing off the log parsing.

Well, that would fix it. I now have a 'fixed' copy of eximstats that is working fine with extended logging. I don't know if I should distribute that or not. I wasn't asked not to... PM me if you like.

The simplest way to resolve (meaning the least amount of admin hassle) is to remove log_selector = +all from exim.conf That way there is no reason to continually recopy a fixed eximstats after each upgrade until a fix is issued for this.
