How do you stop the delayed SQL inserts I've been recently getting from eximstats?

I'm bumping this because my eximstats processes are also getting delayed inserts.

I had put in a cpanel support ticket, when I faced this issue and this was the response i got:

so, the slow or buggy query may not be eximstats, but only appears to be eximstats, since there are more and continuous processes of it.

this must be a new behavior as I've not seen it before until recently.. If it not loading up MySQL or using resources (to delay) then I guess oh well not much we can do about it.. we'll just try to ignore it when monitoring db processes.

    thats right.

even when i saw 4 new processes in eximstats i was a bit suspicious which is why i opened the ticket. This was after the major version upgrade.

We're also having the same issues, It's causing the load to spiral out of control until the server crashes. Sometimes I am able to catch in time and then simply run Repair on the eximstats db, and everything is normal again. It happens maybe 2-3 times per day. the mysql processlist shows this:

57 eximstats localhost eximstats Sleep 1 NULL
58 DELAYED localhost eximstats Delayed insert 41 Waiting for INSERT
81 DELAYED localhost eximstats Delayed insert 1 Waiting for INSERT
82 DELAYED localhost eximstats Delayed insert 1 Waiting for INSERT

sweet9, that is something that I worry about as well.. and why I posted.

On this server we have a large vB based forum with an extremely high MySQL usage level.. and these delayed inserts sit there for a LONG time taking up resources that could be used for active queries.

I put in a ticket with cPanel... they stated they are aware of the issue and actively working on it.

He mentioned downgrading to STABLE (11.30). I'm going to try that and let you guys know.

    [UPDATE]
Downgrade to STABLE completed without issues... We'll see how the next 24 hours pans out.

Let us all know what responses you get in your ticket and the final solution when it becomes available.

I can confirm that this is affecting all of our servers (downgraded to stable load went down)
only had to do it to one server our lager servers are able to keep up with the added load

I'm not sure if downgrading is an effective solution, esp. with the changes that it would make.
Maybe someone from cpanel can confirm this.

1 point of note: When there are few other mysql threads, it does not cause a problem, but when roundcube is queried and any other blogs or websites are being updated, the load spikes like crazy.

I found that emptying the eximstats db does help too, but it is not a long term solution.

Are you all on MySQL 5.0.95 ? Or is anyone having this problem with 11.32 and MySQL 5.1 or 5.5?

Delayed inserts are normal, and to be expected. They avoid processing many inefficient small writes, in exchange for a few larger writes.

MySQL :: MySQL 5.5 Reference Manual :: 13.2.5.2 INSERT DELAYED Syntax
If you are experiencing high load, it is not likely to be caused by the delayed inserts (this should actually be reducing the overall number of writes). If you are unsure what is causing the load, please do open a ticket at : https://tickets.cpanel.net/review/login.cgi?redirect=/submit/

    Running MySQL 5.1.61 here.

We downgraded to STABLE - 11.30 exactly 24 hours ago... since then we've had zero issues.

    Sam,

I would definitely open a ticket as we don't have any changes planned in this area, and you will likely be in the same boat again once 11.32 (soon) ships out to STABLE.

    You may also consider running
    Code:
    /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mysqltuner/mysqltuner.pl
to determine if your mysql configuration would benefit from some adjustment.
