    Hi,
I´ve found this link http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/OtherTricks , talking about this interesting technic about fake mx records to fight spammers.
Does anybody use this in cpanel ? What are your experiences using this ? any problem with lost emails or spam decrease ?

    Thanks

You could edit your dns template... (you should find it in the menu)

    change

    %domain%. IN MX 0 %domain%.

    to

    fake.domain.you.fool.com. IN MX 10 %domain%.
    %domain%. IN MX 20 %domain%.
    another.fake.domain.you.fool.com. IN MX 10 %domain%.

    Or something similar

Update all your current domains manually.

We use fake mx records on some of our "trouble" domains. Nobody has ever complained and we have not seen any loss of mail. However I cannot say if it really helps that much. Spammers are pretty clever and you would really need to do a weeks worth of stats without the fake mx, then add them, wait a couple days and then check the stats again.

I do know alot of lame spam programs will just get one mx, try it and give up if it fails, but alot of them now know about the mx record tricks and beat this trick.

I agree, its pointless. I would use the tools within WHM that using spam database lookups. I have used them - it picks much of it out but not all.

yeah, but spam lookups databases have a lot of false positives, and it eats a lot of cpu.
