Just got the same email myself, which is why I stopped by. Noticed the return path for replies leads to root@lion.xyzdns.net and thought it odd that anyone trying to responsibly advertise wouldnt use a specific domain addy for that business.

Just got the same thing myself to an email account that we do not even have registered here or at any of our sites. What makes this really strange is why in the world would they send this to us as we are also a management company! Oh well guess have another company to go behind and fix the problems they create.

Cpanel staff is aware of it. Just called them on the phone as well as forwarded them a copy of the email & headers.

This doesn't look good. I wonder how many others are getting these mails. Let me check with my clients as well, i wouldn't want them to get these mails. Or mite as well put a filter in exim to reject these mails for now.

Cpanel can remove their forum access. They've obviously abused it here.

It looks like they are just randomly guessing email addresses based on members usernames and/or the URLs they have listed in their profiles. The SPAM was sent to webmaster@ which isn't the address I have listed in my profile here anyway.
    Agreed!

What kinda gets me is the email account they sent this to us at is not even the email account registered here. It is also not on any of our pages, not even listed in forms where they could extract it. To add our email from the forums is also disabled and has been since day 1. I even tried it just to be sure and get a message saying its disabled. We get enough emails here in a days time not to have to deal with spam such as this.

This sure is highly unethical, some action needs to be taken against them.

I simply come here for information regarding cpanel. I do not have clients or run the type of business like most here do, just a simple community website. But, I see the same place that sent the email advertising all over these boards and each time it causes some type of disruption which always ends in "I'm sorry, it was unethical...blah blah blah." This time is no different http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21136

For what its worth my own opinion would be to disable this user as well to prevent further issues.
