This was touched on in another thread, but none of the solutions worked.

Got my first Fedora Core 2 server, and I cannot get Exim to install at all. Everything else seems to be going quite well, but every time I run /scripts/exim4, I get a couple of errors:

error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libperl.so;4132906a: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch

And, probably as a result of the above:

Building exim.conf...Exim Binary not found! at /scripts/buildeximconf line 231.

There is no file in /usr/lib called libperl.so. I've tried symlinking it to the file in a couple of other locations, but it has no effect. This file does not exist on any of my other servers either and there are no problems installing Exim on those (none of them are Fedora Core 2)

Any thoughts?

Download the fedora core 2 perl rpm

use rpm -e to uninstall the perl rpm that is in there

use rpm to isntall the perl package you downloaded

run /scripts/exim4

Worked for me.
