I have a couple request for chages to the file manager which although simple to implement, are critical to make the file-editing tool useful.

The first is to have the code changed to run an htmlspecialchars on the file before it output into the textarea. As it is, if I have an   in my file, it's actually rendered as a space rather than as the HTML code - the same goes for any other special characters such as © or & etc..

The second request is to make the text editing area larger - use some CSS and make it 100% wide :P As it stands it's too small to use efficiently, and I always have to copy the text to a third-party editor, and copy it back then save.

The last request is to trim off the trailing \n that is appended to the text when editing a file. It's hideously annoying - especially when editing a php file and a \n character is appended after the ?>

I try not to, but some times there is no alternative.

i.e. when you're behind an overly restrictive firewall.

    True.

It would be nice for it to work properly for those who do use it. ;)

    Exactly :)

And yes, I'm hoping that by keeping this topic active someone will eventually read it and implement this change ;)

    As opposed to?

I'm just wondering if you're implying I should be paying more than my standard CPanel license cost?

As opposed to nothing. It should work whether we'll use it or not.

Anyway, the width of the textarea you can change it yourself if you're using a custom theme. As for the character entities, I don't think that's easy to fix. If you transform them using a htmlentities-like function, then you would end up having entities turned into entities turned into entities and so on and so on each time you edited the file.
