Hi Lauren,

The link you provided is for the search text box located in the top-right. I'm asking about the text box in the top-left.

Testing top-left text box a bit more, I see it allows for example to open a directory like public_html , if I type 'public_html' that directory is opened. The trick is to realize the start point is already going to be /home/user/ so if you type the full path '/home/user/public_html' you get a "This directory is empty" message.

I think this top left box should always contain the full path currently viewing and allow the user to change as needed if they want to navigate to another directory.

The top right search box will search all files in a specified location. The top left search box does the directory search but it's more like navigation. The search you're asking about doesn't do recursive searches it's displaying the directory you're in and you can type out the directory within the directory you're in to access it

Another thing this does is display the path to the directory you're in. For example:

/home/$user are always assumed as the user cannot ascend above /home/$user

You're right, about that documentation, it is the wrong search box. The box you're referencing isn't present, I apologize.
