    Hello,

One of our VPS clients is currently having issues.
When he creates a new account in WHM he sees an error something like:

Yet, the account gets created anyway.
However, when he goes to the new cPanel account and to FileManager, it is empty.
Can you shed some light on how this can be resolved?

    Thanks in advance.

    Dan

I'd recommend checking (EDITED) /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log to see what went wrong.

    Hello David,

I went to /var/cpanel/logs and there is no error_log in there. All the logs in there are from 2007.

I'm pretty sure he meant /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log

It looks like the permissions on the user's home directory are incorrect.

Make sure they own their home directory

    Hello Nick,

These issues are happening only on one VPS with cPanel/WHM.
Each new account he creates has the same issue and also they are unable to connect to FTP.

    Update.

I have found that it is only accounts created by root that are having the issues. Resellers on his VPS are not having these issues.

It seems to be a permissions issue. When the accounts are created, the directories within root>>home are left with no public_html, public_ftp etc only a file called .bash_profile

Hope this may help understand what's happening.

    Cheers,
    Dan

Something seems to be wrong with the filemanager (not legacy filemanager) or it's configuration. I found an account where the filemanager is not working properly.

    access-logs no records found
    etc correct listing
    mail correct listing
    public_ftp correct listing
    public_html no records found
    tmp correct listing
    www no records found

    +...public_html
Error message after clicking on + : There was a problem fetching the file list. Please reload and try again.

Reload isn't able to fix that problem. Permissions are looking alright.

Trying a domain transfer of this account to another server ... successfully. But same result !
Filemanager problem persists. Other accounts are working properly on both server. Very strange.

    Our problem has been fixed.

It was just an IE 6 and 7 problem which occurs if sub directory names
within public_html are including special characters like ö, & or /

    example:

    subdirectory/name

Then "filemanager" got problems to fetch the list if you are using IE.

It almost worked. When first logged in to File manager, all subfolders and files appeared on the right. But subsequent clicks resulted in the "No Records Found" error.

If you haven't done so already, I would highly recommend anyone still experiencing this issue to submit a support ticket directly to cPanel. If you acquired your licensing from one of our resellers, you can submit a ticket directly to cPanel, Inc by scrolling to the bottom of http://tickets.cpanel.net/submit and using the option to submit a ticket without logging in.

Otherwise, please visit http://tickets.cpanel.net/submit to submit your support request.

    Thanks!
