    is there a way to let users download my files without them having to put a user name and password in?

    What specifically do you mean? If you are offering programs for download for example, just uploading them and linking to them should result in the files downloading.

    its my own dj mixes, ive uploaded 1 of them to cpanel, but when i copy the link it gives me when uploaded, it shows a box with this in it

    The server www.realoldskool.co.uk at cPanel requires a username and password.

    Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).




    iam new to this and maybe its looking me straight in the face. Can any plz help?:rolleyes:

    You should be posting a link to a file on your website, not to a page within the cPanel interface. Any time you try to link to anything within the cPanel interface, you will be prompted for a username and password.

    Perhaps your web hosting provider could be of assistance regarding this.

    i only want to use cpanel to host files atm, iam sorry if iam coming accross as a bit thick, how will i link it in a way that it will download the way i want it to.

    Link to it as if you were linking to a page on your website. If you uploaded that file to ~/public_html/myfile.zip then your link would be to http://yourDomain.com/myfile.zip

    Do not link to anything within the cPanel interface.
