    Hi,

I am a newbie for the dedicated server. I recently purchased a servermatrix.com dedicated server with Cpanel/WHM. Is there a firewall function in WHM? Should I must install a firewall (APF) manually?

    Need help.....

as far as im aware, WHM does NOT have a firewall function, and your can order firewalls in your servermatrix packages.
but you can look here: http://www.hostinglife.com/security.php
for a firewall, and some antiviruse softwar for linux servers.

That is up to you; if you want a firewall install one.
WHM does not have one by default. I use APF on my servers.

Actually, I find if you only allow your service ports you stop other problems :) like non-root users running things like BNC's, Proxys & IRCd's.

APf is a great solution I would recommend that you check out and setup.

I agree... its the only firewall I use and I think the only one I like.

Wish they had a Windows port.

    APF and FreeBSD 5.3

Does APF work on FreeBSD 5.x?
