    HI there
With the new cpanel, i appear to be having problems with the auto responders.

For the japanese language there are a few character sets - normally we use shift-jis.

Under the autorepsonder section, I select this character set, enter the autoresponse message in this character set and create the autoresponder.

However, the autoreponse that is sent out is not quite right.
That is, in outlook, I can see just a set of numbers where the actual japanese characters should be. So i automatically assume that the character set is set wrong. However, looking at the property of the mail, the character set is shift-jis - the correct set. Something strange is happening.

    Anybody got any ideas?
    cheers
    stephen

You won't be able to fix the subject. Japanese subjects MUST be in iso-2022-jp, but iso-2022-jp cannot be displayed in html. Therefore you cannot encode that page in iso-2022-jp, and consequently you cannot use the autoresponder with iso-2022-jp.

Just tell your users to use English in the subject.

I have no experience with japanese but the rule to send data via form is set HTML of the form to shift-jis before write a messages and submit. For example you are in english skin, when you come to the autoresponder page click View->Encoding->Shift-JIS. I think that would help.

Yeah, I forgot to add that part. You should set the encoding in your skin to shift_JIS.;)

    subject etc

    hi there
    thanks for the quick reply

my client is using englihs in the subject - only the body of the message is in japanese

before the upgrade of cpanel, the shift-jis in the body of the message worked fine but then after the upgrade of cpanel, the body of the message is getting changed to a differnt character set

    any ideas?

Hello, I'm having the same problem, but if it's urgent there is a workaround like this.

    First, look into the /home/user/.autorespond/**
There should be text files that contain the autoresponder contents.
I believe the charset is set wrong in it, so edit the file and set the charset to whatever you like.

Thank you sfxx. Your advice makes my same problem solved. The message became fine. I thought there was no solution about this problem because I'm not having much knowlege about cpanel. Thank you very much.
