I want to forward one mailbox to a third-party Exchange server, but the foward itself is not working, it just seems to be ignored, mail just goes to existing mailbox instead. Can this be caused by some kind of relaying issue?

If you create an email forwarder and there is an email account with the same address, mail will be delivered both to the email address you're forwarding mail to AND the email account on the cPanel/WHM server. To have the cPanel/WHM server not accept the email but only forward it, simply leave the forwarder intact but delete the email account on the cPanel/WHM server for that email address.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't know about that. I'll just delete the box.

The reason I wasn't getting the email on the exchange server I don't fully understand, but I got it fixed. The problem was that the forward to the exchange server appeared to be ignored. I had a user level filter in cpanel that was somehow interfering. I had actions for that user to send all mail both to inbox and to the trashcan. I guess the filter overrode the forward. Works good now. Thanks again.
