Sorry if this has been asked before but am wondering if this will lead to any issues.

I have setup a forward rule in cPanel to forward emails sent to [email protected] to [email protected]lists.example.com where the latter is a mailman email address. It seems to work as expected but want to make sure it won't lead to any issues before I go live with the list.

The background to this is I want to keep the email address short but also want the flexibility to migrate the mailing list to an external provider in case it gets too large to manage locally. All the external mailman providers seem to need the list to be a subdomain to work.

Hey there! I don't see why this would be a problem. The mail server doesn't know that it is forwarding to a list as it just seems the email address and then handles the email appropriately. If you do run into trouble though, let us know!

Hi cPrex. I wasn't so concerned about the forwarder, more how mailman deals with forwarded messages. I'm not overly familiar with the mechanics of email and am worried forwarding the message may alter a header or something and end up with unpredictable results.
