I have quite a few clients who use forwarding addresses.

When the ultimate address rejects a message that comes from a bogus address my server tries vainly to send an error message and the queue gets loaded up with this crap.

    Any way to avoid that?

    Go on, have a guess
The only way around that is to:

    1. Tell users who forward their email not to report spam that they find at its final destination as they're causing problems

    2. Tell users not to forward email and to retrieve it from the server using POP3/IMAP

    3. Install a spam scanning application that checks forwarded email too and have it filter out likely spam

No easy solution, though 2 is the best option.
