    Probably has been asked before but when I searched came up with many non-answers.

    When setting default address to 'fail' will forwarders still forward?

    Thanks

    Yes. If you have a forwarder such as bob@domain.com, email sent to bob@domain.com will continue to be forwarded. However, email sent to the non-existent address xyz@domain.com will not be forwarded if the default address is set to "fail".

    Thank you very much!

    Another one;
    If I have default set to fail and spamassassin turned on do all of the unrouted emails(default) go through spammassassin first (using up cpus) or do they just fail first?

    ... and any forwarding emails setup of course get processed by spamassassin?

    Thanks again

    Emails sent to a non-existent address will be dropped at SMTP time so they don't waste CPU (that's the way "fail" works nowadays).

    As for spam filtering email sent to a forwarder, a QA staff member may need to correct me on this, but I believe at this time SpamAssassin doesn't process mail through forwarders.
