Hi, I've had a good search on this topic and drawn a blank so I wonder if someone could help please?

I have a dozen or so users I manage email for in cpanel. Each user has a Gmail account which I forward email to as I don't have enough storage to manage their email locally. Currently each user has an email account in cpanel so I'm still collecting email locally - each user has an email account because we use the 'send email as' feature in Gmail which requires each user to have an authenticated smtp relay willing to relay email for the domain.

This all works fine but I'm constantly having to clear out the users local copies of email. Is there a way of auto-deleting a forwarded email? Or does every user need their own cpanel email account, could I have a generic account which will accept SMTP relaying from anyone @domain?

Any ideas would be great please!

To answer my own question on it, it does appear as though a generic email account used by all users to send email by authenticated SMTP works very nicely, not just for the domain the account was created under, but for all the domains I have against this cpanel account. Problem solved!

Hello,

I'm glad to see you found a suitable solution. Note that another option would be to setup filters instead of forwarders with a rule to discard the message after redirecting the email to it's destination.

Thank you.
