About two weeks ago I used "Copy an Account From Another Server With an Account Password" in WHM to migrate an account from an old server to a new one. The old server was a shared server which I did not have full access to. The account I transferred was having storage space/email/forwarder/autoresponder issues.
After migrating the account I took to troubleshooting the autoresponder issues. The autoresponder for the one account it was in use on appeared to be blank. The only field fields filled in were the account info and the message body containing ????. I deleted the autoresponder completely. Checked the autoresponder page to be sure. The next day, when I checked, the autoresponder had returned. It was exactly the same as it was. Like it had never been deleted. I deleted the auto responder again and this time removed everything in the /home/USER/.autoresponder directory. Confirmed it was gone. A few days pass, checked the autoresponder, it was back again. Delete rinse and repeat several more times.
There has to be a larger issue here. Checked the associated file in /etc/valiases. Discovered there are forwarders which point to an account which points back to the forwarder. Delete the circular forwarders from Cpanel. Check /etc/valiases/ again. That looks correct now. A few more days pass. The autoresponder and all of the circular forwards have returned. Delete rinse and repeat several more times.
The real question: Why do the forwarders and autoresponder keep coming back? It just seems to be this one account. The problem existed before I copied the account over. I just wasn't looking for it.
Server Info:
CENTOS 7.3 x86_64 xen hvm
whm cPanel & WHM 64.0 (build 24)
Thanks in advance for the help.
