    Hi,

One of my accounts is have problems logging into all of my websites via FrontPage to publish new files or amend existing ones.

What's happening is that while I can amend files in the root domain, any files held in a subweb have become username and password protected and when I enter the root username and password for the subwebs, the username and password remain unrecognised, hence I cannot open the subwebs and/or amend the files.

Have also tryed uninstalled and re-installed FP Extensions but continue to have the same problem as described above.

    Regards,
    Garry

Garry, if you peek inside the .htaccess file located in the root of the subweb, you will notice some Authname references. I think that removing those lines and deleteing the files references will remove all password protection for the subweb.

Remember to backup the relevant files first :)

You could always fire up your trusty FTP client and move the files that way. People are a little too dependant on a product that is native to Windows and really isn't that good to start with. FTP is reliable & fast, can't ask for anything else.

what version of FP are they using?

could it be an old version which might not be compatible with the latest updates?
