Free CPanel/WHM Skins: you may loose your business to their

Greetings to everyone.

I don't think someone paid attention to this, but two new Cpanel skins contain links to sites of hosting companies, which advertise hosting plans, and other services... Now imagine: we can't prevent our resellers to use those skins =& we can't prevent them from advertising in them. Same is with dedicated customers, who may go elsewhere because of it.

Guys, we are really appreciate your donations, and your efforts to make Cpanel/WHM look great (it's the only thing this product really lacks, i love everything else ;), and personally i love new &X skin&, but please, when you donate something, make sure it's not a kind of &trojan horse&, that will hurt other's business. This is unethical, as for me.

I would like to ask Dave to remove both themes from WHM temporarily, and i would appreciate, if respected developers of those themes will either remove links to their business sites from them, or point them to something business-neutral.

You're right...
but installing skins is optional... so you can just delete them if they contain links you dont want...

btw, I made this new skin:
http://whmcas.cascompany.com/simpleCP2

on the other side... is uses a neutral email account link, but can't be removed in the free version.
btw, you can buy a source version of the skin at a very low price where you can remove the copyright link.

Cass: and i love that theme - very fast loading, which is important for WHM. No, copyright info is required... People must know their heroes ;) Email is fine... But when it's a link to a business site - it's already an advertisement.

Moreover, i'm using it ;))) When i need to dig in whm many times a day - it's exactly the most suitable skin of all the free ones ;)

Though i must admit, X theme is crisp and looks lovely.

Vital,

I know what you mean, however cass is right, you don't have to use the themes if you don't want them, also you have &screenshots& that you can view before you install them and you can even install these themes on your servers, view them, analize them over and over again and then, but only then if you like them you can give them to your users.

I swear I did not realize that I had put actual links in there, and even though I think it is &fair& to have them, I will change them to just my personal email address. Should be avail during the next two or three cp updates. :)

please do not develope a free theme if you add your commercial ads or links in it

You can offer themes seperately as a commercial service not a hosting, and don't damage others' businesses.
Also Cpanel (DarkORB) should not add like these in Cpanel, what we have to do for ressellers and dedicated servers that we offer to our customers when you compete with us directly by our control panel.

Bert, thank you for this.

Mike - I don't think these people *intentionally* added their business links.

I am not trying to start a war here, but...

My customers are loyal to me because I provide great service. Although my prices may or may not be the best around, bottom line is if I keep my customers happy, they will have no reason to go elsewhere.

My point, even though the skins have links in them, and even though my customers may click on the link which brings them to the authors site, the only reason I would have to worry is if I wasn't keeping my customers happy and in which case, I could not fairly expect them to stay with me anyways.

I COMPLETELY understand the concern however, and am happy when a free service is offered without links back to a competitors site, however, bottom line is that I am keeping my customers happy and therefore do not have to worry about this.

Now, you may say &Sure, but some of my customers are here just because I had the lowest price when they signed up, or because I offered something others werent at the time the customer signed up&. Yes, this may be the case, but, with or without a link to another site, this type of customer is one who is bound to be looking elsewhere anyways to see who is NOW offering the lowest prices or more features.

Again, I am not trying to start a war, I am just simply stating that treating your loyal customers like royalty will keep them with you regardless of what they see elsewhere. And the customers who do look for lowest prices are gonna end up going elsewhere sooner or later anyways...

bigshow911,

What do you like losing thousands of dollars each year or just paying a $** for a theme?

However we paid $**** to a company to design 20 themes for us, to reduce our customer needs for free themes especially for dedicated server and reseller customers

But what have to do with add on themes part of WHM? (default theme)

this is why I wrote this &please do not develop a free theme if you add your commercial ads or links in it

You can offer themes separately as a commercial service not a hosting, and don't damage others' businesses.
Also Cpanel (DarkORB) should not add like these in Cpanel, what we have to do for resellers and dedicated servers that we offer to our customers when you compete with us directly by our control panel. &

There is a definition: Building Blocks of Business ...

If you believe these are wrong post a reply let me know what is the truth. I haven’t any problem neither with you nor anyone else.

Thank you, who design themes, who help me and who read my posts, You all

I do have to agree with one thing he said. These themes should not be included in WHM if they are going to have links to other hosting sites. If these companies want to advertise, there are places for that, but not on a product that I pay for monthly, and not in a product that I offer to my customers.

Wow, this post shows intelligence. I think part of what mikerayner was talking about was on dedicated server customers. You don't have to option to install them or not because they show up in WHM automatically.

Now this pisses me off. We work hard on our themes and then we give them to losers like you that bitch and whine about one small thing.

THE THEMES ARE OPTIONAL IF YOUR DEDICATED CLIENTS INSTALL THEM AND DON'T SEE THE LINK THEN THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TRYING TO BE A WEB HOST.
