FreeBSD 4.5 +mysql

Has anyone gotten mysql to work on freebsd? I have tried manually installing it but it still doesn't work. Even cPanel can't install it. It says on the status page that mysql and the one above it both failed. For me it says Cannot connect through /tmp/mysql.sock. i know its there becase i linked it to /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. Any ideas?
