Good afternoon,

Our server has been working like a champ, and we're a bit reluctant to perform a large upgrade like that, but as we would like to update WHM to 11.30, we need to get our base OS updated as well so we aren't caught by the EOL policies.

I'm in the process of preparing to make this upgrade (so then we can update to WHM 11.30). Are there any "best practice" bits of advice that anyone has to offer regarding this?

Thanks!

Hello :)

My suggestion would be to upgrade FreeBSD from 6.2 to 8.1 first, and then complete the cPanel update to 11.30. This may take a few hours to complete, so it's probably better if you preformed the upgrade during off-peak hours.

Thank you.

Getting ready to perform the upgrade FreBSD from 6.2 to 8.1 next week. Since cPanel itself uses the FreBSD ports system, I'm planning to ensure the ports tree is updated, but not update anything already installed. Once the OS update is complete, I'll update cPanel and let cPanel update any ports that it needs, along the way to 11.30.

Any concerns with that approach?
