Hello,

I did a simple download and install of cpanel.

This host is one that preconfigured the centos 5.8 to have a login user then require su to elevate..

After going through what appeared to be a successful cpanel install I tried to go to IP:2086

and it does not come up..

After having no success with that I went in and sent reboot command in ssh.

Now the real problem.. still no :2086 (no firewall or anything in the way I asked.)

and getting error about my normal account not being in sudoers and its not letting me su..

I know the password 100% sure..

any ideas other than reformatting? thats going to cost me $30 and I am worried after normal cpanel install I will be back to square 1..

Re: fresh cpanel install lock out of su - and no port 2086 access to contin

Okay fixed it by getting them to add KVM over IP to the server and put in a DVD.. had to add the basic login name to the authorized wheel group..

The lesson I learned is to disable iptables next time I run into this problem setting up cpanel.. then install csf and be happy with the new proper configuration.

Not sure how the cpanel install botched the IP Tables config or if it did at all, the settings appeared to be in there for cpanel ports..
