Seeing an error when attempting to install the Frontpage extensions to one of my sites. The output from /scripts/setupfp5 <domain> is:

Cleanup Child Active..

Starting install, port: 80.

Creating web http://www.<domain>.
Chowning Content in service /.
Error: An access setup description is required when creating the root web.

I've never seen this before and searching for this error on the net leads me nowhere. Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

It generally means that you have leftover .htaccess files in the home directory that frontpage can't understand. I've updated the frontpage setup scripts to attempt to figure out where they are and move them.

/scripts/updatenow
/scripts/unsetupfp4 <domain>
/scripts/setupfp5 <domain>

should fix it.

That seems to have done the trick! I had tried manually deleting the .htaccess files, but I guess I didn't find them all.

Thanks for your help.

/script/setupfp5

running /scripts/updatenow ; /scripts/unsetupfp4; /scripts/setupfp5 seems to fix the problem to install the FP extensions, but if the user tries to uninstall/reinstall from their control panel, they still get the following error:

Attempting to install Frontpage extenstions ......

Starting install, port: 80. Creating web http://www.colinamochrie.com. Chowning Content in service /. Error: An access setup description is required when creating the root web.
Frontpage extensions are currently: installed

Any ideas on how to solve this problem permanently?

Thank you.

By the way, "extenstions" is spelled wrong in the message "Attempting to install Frontpage extenstions ......"

I'm with glassjoe on finding a permanent fix, for those of us with a lot of accounts, it's *really* a pain to do this on thousands of accounts.

It does this on new accounts with no .htaccess files at all. To say this is a pain is an understatement. We REALLY need a fix for this.
