We've been getting 550 "Requested action not taken" errors when trying to upload new files, overwrite files, or create new files using ProFTPD, Pure-FTP, and vsFTP.

This problem occurs with all FTP users and we've tried switching back and forth between different FTP server programs with no luck.

The permissions are correct on the directories.

Setup:
Red Hat Linux Enterprise ES
Cpanel 10.2.0 Stable 83

Anyone have any suggestions?

Restarting proftpd on one of our servers corrected this problem. But it sounds like you've done that.

Have you checked /etc/proftpd.conf to make sure AllowOverride is on?

Did you try changing hosts on the client end? I have experienced some really wierd issues with MTU's and simply bogging down the MTU fixed this for me. It seems the commands were just not getting there properly? I think it was the server's MTU was too high and it was disregarding my MTU for some reason. Its a slim chance that this is your problem, but if you have another internet connection try FTP'ing to your server from that, see if it gives you the same error.
