    He there,

I'm probably doing something wrong but i can't seem to figure out what. If i create a cpanel account in whm and log in to ftp everything works as expected. But if i create an ftp user via the cpanel within this account i can't login via sftp and only in active mode.

Anyone know what can cause this behaviour?

    Thanks!
    W

    Hello,

SFTP uses the SSH protocol, you can only use SFTP with the cPanel user since the cPanel user is an actual linux user which is what SSH uses to authenticate with. The other FTP accounts are just virtual accounts created within PureFTP that are not actual linux users.

Thanx JCats! That explains a lot. Is there a way around this?
