Guys, I am doing a research on securing ftp. I know, this is very unsecure like telnet.

Can cpanel support ftp+secure? ssl? configurations?

How could we do it? what is the best way?

or, just scrap it (based on search here) and just use sftp?. But, I will be allowing port 22 access to clients (ssh access)?

    Thanks

You really shouldn't use port 22, it's the default port for SSH and the world knows this. There are posts on the forum here about changing that. As for secureFTP, cPanel now provides all users the ability to use SFTP.

Go to FTP accounts in your cPanel, then click Configure FTP Client icon beside your name to show details for SFTP.

    That should help.

FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS) and SSH File Transfer (SFTP) are both supported. Shell access does not need to be granted for SFTP to function properly on an account in a cPanel 11 environment.
