    Hello!
I am unable to upload, download or delete files with FTP.
I can connect to my account & upload starts fine but after few seconds (5-20 sec.) upload stops & I receive "connection timeout".
    Problem exists last two days.
I am 99% sure that the problem is in pure-ftp on our server.

    Already tried:
    - two different FTP clients (winscp & filezilla)
    - turning server firewall (csf+lfd) off
    - disabling cphulk
    - did csf & cphulk flush
    - server reboot
    - force reinstall of pureftp
    - used my FTP client on another server & everything works fine (so the problem is not in my internet connection, local firewall...)

Last server upgrade was two nights ago, when this problem occured.

    What to do?
How can I downgrade pure-ftp to previous version?
Tried yum downgrade pure-ftp & yum downgrade pure-ftpd-1.0.36-1 but nothing happened.

When you upload something, are you uploading many of them at one time? For example a directory of images. That might be an issue for uploading and downloading, but surely not deleting.

Tried with default FTP client setup, which was working fine before. Also tried setting limit to one file at a time.

"Timeout detected. Copying files to remote side failed."

Are you the Administrator and have root access, or does someone else manage this server?

What error are you getting when deleting, as you mentioned?

I also did this, since I use passive FTP connection:

    /etc/pure-ftpd.conf
    PassivePortRange 30000 35000

    /etc/csf/csf.conf
    # Allow incoming TCP ports
    TCP_IN = "20,21,22,25,53,80,110,30000:35000"

    service csf restart
    service pureftpd restart

    Same result. :(

    - - - Updated - - -

I am the administrator & have root access.

After 15-20 sec. of deleting some files are deleted & then I receive this message:

    Timeout detected.
    Could not retrieve directory listing
    Options: -a -l
    13 matches total
    Error listing directory '/www/xy'.
    Error deleting file '/www/xy'.

17:14:24 file uploaded, and then I receive "connection timeout", you can see "new connection from..." at 17:15:00

This is from the messages log, do you need info from some other log file?

If you suspect an issue with your server you are able to open a ticket to cPanel Support. From in your WHM, top right corner there's a Support Menu with a Contact cPanel link.

    Thanks, I will.

    Just did another test.
I can upload, download & delete bigger files (1mb or bigger) without a problem.
15min. upload & download worked fine.

Problem is with smaller files (10kb - 500kb).
I receive "connection timeout" after 10, 15 or 20 files are uploaded. It looks like random number of small files can be uploaded.

Now I am uploading 50 x 5mb files & so far there is no problem.
Looks like fast switching from upload to directory list is creating problems.

Uploading a directory of images will result in this sort of thing that you describe, you're opening too many connections.
