I know most of you probably use ProFTPd because it's the "default" FTP daemon, and also has bandwidth accounting, however how many of you use Pure-FTPd? The code a lot more solid and is a LOT faster.

I'd really like to see Pure-FTPd upgraded and maintained to the level that ProFTPd is. Anyone agree?

The latest version has FTP over SSL among other things.

ProFTP is hella slow on a box with a shit load of clients...pure destroys Pro hands down...the only caveat to pure is that it isn't as configurable as pro.

    Pure-FTPd all the way.
Just wish there was a workaround on the bandwidth logging ;-)

Just a FYI, it seems that if you update to the latest version of PureFTPd via the rpm on diff.cpanel.net, it than reads off of the conf instead of off of /etc/syconfig/pure-ftpd, than you can adjust (safely) the timeout/max files per directory/max connections per ip and all. Works for me.

However with a few of my machines when i go from proftpd -> pureftpd i have authentication errors for all my users, anyone noticed this?

    Pure-FTP

Better, Faster, less stress on CPU. As others said, the only problem is that it does not log bandwidth.
