ftp password no usable

reseller created new account that the ftp password doesnt work, works ok for login to cpanel

tried sync
tried changing password in whm and sync
tried passwd newpasswd from command line
and then sync

no go

every new password works for cpanel login but not for ftp login?

show me a path to a conf file to kill the whole thing and i will recreate the account

make sure the username is [email protected]

Yup i find that working too.
[email protected] for username instead of just using user name
Any reason why...behind this?

But I tried to use [email protected] for the fix with the ftp manager and it does not work for the upload.

Should the account be set to [email protected]?
