    Hi!

Me and our clients have the problems trying to change permissions to 444 on files and 555 on folders via FTP program. I tested it myself on 2 diff accounts on different servers and with 2 different FTP clients.
No error message - looks like it's fine but it just don't change it.

I can however change it via cpanel -> Filemanager without any issues !

Owner of the files is the user:user
public_html is owned bu user:nobody and has 750 settings.

I tested changing this to user:user and 755 instead but it did not help.

I can change to 555/444 via shell access for user login (and offcourse as root).
I can also change it via cpanel - Filemanager.

But not via FTP client !
    Any ideas ?

    Regards Jerry

    Hello :)

This is due to the following Pure-FTPD configuration option:

    CustomerProof

When this option is enabled, it prevents changing the permissions of files that could result in problems for the user. You can disable this option by editing the following file:

    Code:
    /etc/pure-ftpd.conf
Adjust the file so the option reads as:

    Code:
    CustomerProof no
Then, simply restart the Pure-FTPD service.

    Thank you.
