Suddenly my ftp is not working on sub-ftp accounts but works on main.

    specs:
    cpanel/whm current 9.88
    fedora

I switched between pro ftpd and pure ftpd several times back and forth (usually fixes the problem).

    Steps:
    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/fixproftpddupes
    /scripts/ftpup pure-ftpd
    /scripts/ftpup proftpd

/etc/proftpd.conf seems to have only one of my domains but not all the rest. I don't know why.

    Please help.

try and reset the poassword. I have customers not being able to login with certain ftp clients also. Leap is one of them I use ncftp and bam I'm in using the usernames and passwords they give me. IDK if this a cpanel bug or what.

not working for me either today.........

pure not working for some accounts - as described above - it states "login incorrect", resetting password doesn't work

changed to pro - then it works but keeps having to be re-started automagically.

switched back to pure - behaviour the same - i.e. "login incorrect".......

    Hi,

I'm getting the same error here.

Any clues how to resolve this issue would be much appreciated.

If you think thats bad, we had a report from a user who claims that after he created his new domain he attempted to ftp to his site he was able to log into our /images directory using proftpd. Go figure whats going on with this. A user who has access to our directory structure? Hows that? Im still trying to confirm this.

Which user he is trying to login as ? the main user for the domain or a sub-user ?

As a general warning I had a PM from linux_image who gave me his MSN address and then wanted me to let him "look at" my server.

No-one should ask to do this and you should certainly not trust someone with access to your server.

IMHO people that offer to fix problem if they "can look at your server" should be banned from this service.

:) iam asking you for the details and only with your permission do i enter your server. i help most people out here as much as I can. i have fixed the same issue for "Secret Agent"; who has posted in the same thread.

if you dont trust; i do not force you to anything. it is just a matter of trust; infact do you guess me to do some magic and solve issues without even looking on what is going on ??

to all those whom I had a chat; iam sure that they will not by any means have a complaint against me. In any case there is.. they are free to post here and let me know.

    Hi,

With total respect to linux-image, I think I'd prefer to have some sort of explanation of the potential errors that may be causing ftp sub-accounts to not to function correctly. Can you please explain what you check for, and how to correct the problems you encounter?

    Thanks.

ty jason. the issue is not very clear though; but what i did was to do an upcp and then try a switch between the two ftp's; which i have already mentioned in the posts above.

however when this has worked on one of the servers ; the matter was quite different for another. In that case there was another ftp program running while i switched from pro to pure other than the pureftp. hence killing that process and restarting ftp made the ftp work like a charm.

I have yet got another server with me right now that shows no symptoms or behaviour as the above two and iam digging on more of it. hope to fix it soon.
