I've hidden my IP and the username and site i'm trying to FTP into.

I've triple checked that the password is right. I tried getting in through internet explorer (ftp://...) and CuteFTP Pro. I even tried using my root password. Still no luck. It simply does NOT accept the password.

    I'm running Redhat 7.3 with cPanel 8.5.3-S3.

Any idea what could be wrong / what I could do to fix it?

I also tried restarting ftpd but that didn't do the trick either.

I'd like to add that I just changed to ProFTPD (although I hate it) and it works.

Seems it's only related to PureFTPD but i'd like to get it fixed.

I'd like to add too, that "Synchronize FTP Passwords" doesn't help.

    Please, any clue ?

I have had a similiar problem since this morning. Switched to proftpd allows me to login, but can't display directory listing.

Waiting for my ticket to be responded. Have tried all ways that I know but just didn;t help.

    Same files were retrieved.

I guess the problem came when updating glibc. Still waiting for a solution to this.

Just to confirm that this is a problem that we're seeing on every box running Pure-FTPd. Upgrading to Pro-FTPd resolves the problem.

We've also experienced a number of problems with Perl on servers today, presumeably as a result of the updates installed overnight.

    Best regards,

    Craig.

Had the same problem here. Couldn't figure out why no one could ftp to the server. Finally gave up and changed over to ProFTP. I would however like to switch back also.

I am also having problems with PerlDesk gone sour one me since the Cpanel update. I am getting a 500 server error.
Anyone experiencing the same problem since last night?
If so how did you fix the problem?

Your Perl desk maybe running Perl MySQL.

    If so...

    Go to WHM.

    Click on INSTALL an RPM.

    Find

    PERL:DBD MySQL (re-install)

    Check the box (FORCE INSTALL)

    Go...

This will reinstall the MySQL.pm module that broke along with PureFTP.

I suspect that PerlDesk uses mySQL.PM module....The above should fix it.

Thanks for your post, but I finally got it working now.
I found another post to installl the perl module under WHM.
However, I could not locate the DBD::mysql or the Digest::MD5 within the list. I had to manually type it in a shell and that got it.

How was this updated when I have it to manually update under WHM? What is the purpose of having the preference set to manual if it ignores my setting.

I don't think it was an CPanel Update that caused the problem.

It was a DarkORB or Security Update. Do you have those set to automatic?

I just went and checked, and it shows the following:

Cpanel/WHM Updates: "Manual Updates Only (Stable Tree)
DarkORB Package Updates: "manual updates only".
    Security Package Updates: "Automatic"

I would think Security is one thing you would want set to auto.

That's what I mean. A Security update includes things like Apache, PHP, Perl....etc....

The security update caused the problem, not a CPanel update....

What does one usually have it set for? Do you have yours set for manul for "security"? And if you have it set for auto, how often do you check this manually to update?

    Thanks again

I have mine set to Auto, that's why mine was broken too.. ;-)

But CPanel updates set to Manual.

    Hey guys.

After you switched back to to PRO, did you notice a permission problems with your accounts?

My user accounts can upload a file the first time, but then they get a permission error if they try and over write the same file they just uploaded.

I check the user of the file.

The login user name matches the owner of the file.

    I did a ***ls -l*** to check.

And ChMOD of the file is set to 644 so that means the owner has permission to read and write.

    Anyone else see this problem?

The work around now is to delete the file on the server first, then re upload the same file to FTP.

    I fixed it...

I went to WHM, click on

    "Upgrade to Latest Version"
    under the CPanel section

    Update was a sucess.

ProFTD was still broke, (user permission problems as above)

Then I went to Tweak FTP Settings, changed back to PUREFTP. The update rebuilt pureftp and bty it works now......

Then I decided to switch it back to ProFTP and the update rebuilt ProFTP, I check the permission problem....and VOILA....both FTP servers are working flawless once again...

AND....the only reason I did not like PRO was there was a SLOWWWWWW lag to login....that problem seemed to have went away...so I am going to run PRO FTP for awhile and see if I like it. I really like the e-mail logs PRO FTP does when users login....PURE doesn't do that ;-)
