FTP problems - am going crazy!

Hi
I'm only able to get ftp accounts working that are setup with a new account (ie new non admin ftp accounts added later are not working).
They used to work but now they dont.
The ftp logs dont show what the problem is.
Have tried every FTP protocol known and have even disabled request for encryted FTP only.
The most common error message is : "Error:Authentication failed. Error: Critical error Error:Could not connect to server." - Filezilla connects but error comes when passing passwords

I'm using:

FileZilla 3.3.5.1
(have tried core FTP also)
WHM 11.28.83
CENTOS 5.5 i686 virtuozzo
cPanel Pro 1.0 (RC1)
cPanel Version 11.28.83
Theme x3
Apache version 2.2.17
PHP version 5.3.4
MySQL version 5.1.54-log
Architecture i686
Operating system linux
ftp server up and running (Pure-FTPD)

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

if you're using filezilla to connect,look at the hostname you are using to login. try using ftp :// sitename.com or ftp.sitename.com and such alternatives

The ftp accounts that work for all admin accounts are simply www.domain.com

You shouldn't need the www at all. If you have WHM access try this:
WHM > cPanel > Synchronize FTP Passwords

Thanks for the suggestions.
CP support got me their in the end.
Think it was a problem with my client.

For anyone else with similar issue:

Filezilla wouldn't work (though this stumped me as was working fine for weeks).
Core-FTP worked, but not if encrytped
Fire-FTP (firefox plugin) works fine & can use encryption.

Would you be able to provide the ticket number for the cPanel support ticket? I would like to review it if possible.

FileZilla should work to handle FTP connections, so I'm wondering if TLS was not working properly on the machine or somehow the FileZilla > Site Manager > General tab > Server Type connection had "FTPS - FTP over implicit TLS/SSL" selected. FileZilla will default to TLS automatically, and normally only "FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS/SSL" will work for cPanel FTP connections.
