I have had the same and similar issues plus others - I am seriously regretting going for FC5 now as it is not fully supported - would have expected LT to advise on this and recommend against it :(

Seems I am stuck with it NOW

If anyone ever manages to get this and all the other broken stuff wokring on FC5 I would be appreciative - thanks

Did you check the log file /var/log/messages? This error message won't help in troubleshooting the problem.

I'm having pretty much the same problem, my messages file says that the file /etc/ssl/private/pure-ftpd.pem is missing.

I've also tired to switch to proftpd in WHM, but somehow WHM tries to download the package from a location that doesn't exist anymore (http://diff.cpanel.net/ftpinstall/proftpd/fedora/5/proftpd-1.2.10tls-9_linuxprivs_newinit.i386.rpm)

I am having a similar kind of problem, checking my /var/log/messages I found this in the log:

Dec 15 20:34:00 ip-208-109-17-81 pure-config.pl: Running: /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd -O clf:/var/log/xferlog -lextauth:/var/run/ftpd.sock --daemonize -A -c50 -B -C8 -D -fftp -H -I15 -lextauth:/var/run/ftpd.sock -L2000:8 -m4 -s -U133:022 -u100 -Oxferlog:/usr/local/apache/domlogs/ftpxferlog -k99 -Z -Y1
Dec 15 20:34:00 ip-208-109-17-81 pure-config.pl: cannot exec /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd: No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/pure-config.pl line 123.
Dec 15 20:34:00 ip-208-109-17-81 pure-ftpd: pure-config.pl startup failed

I get the same thing that was mentioned above, but my log reads as this. I tried the http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=59820&highlight=Fedora at first in hopes to see it work as it did for hjnet1, but it still gives the same failed result. What could I do to be able to fix this? Has anyone else experienced this before? :(

the pure-config.pl it mentions IS there, but when I open it, it is blank...

This error message is self-explanatory. Now, do the following
/scripts/ftpup --force
chmod 755 /usr/sbin/pure-config.pl
/usr/sbin/pure-config.pl /etc/pure-ftpd.conf

This is a simple Perl script that will run /usr/local/sbin/pure-ftpd with the right options, according to the configuration file. Did you do cpanelkenneth suggestion? If that doesn't work, you can seek professional help.

Whilst I have now managed to get FTP to restart after doing what was said to do, when now trying to log into an account it says:

It just hangs on 'opening data connection to IP' and then says disconnected remote user did'nt respond.

Any help would be appreciated.
